My name is Onyinye Peace Nweze. I currently serve as PGT Representative for GSBS and have previously been a Class Representative and Senior PAL. These roles have enabled me to represent students at Student Voice and School Board meetings, presenting feedback directly to university leadership. Through this experience, I understand how change happens at GCU and remain committed to ensuring student voices shape it.
My Manifesto
You didn’t come to university just to pass exams.
You came to shape the life you want after.
You chose your course believing it would lead to meaningful work, financial stability, and a future you could be proud of. Yet for too many students, graduation now brings fear. Fear of being unprepared, overlooked by employers, or unsure how a degree translates into real opportunity.
I feel that fear too. And I know I’m not alone.
As Student President, my mission is clear: to ensure every GCU student feels prepared and confident for life beyond university.
To achieve this, I will focus on three priorities:
1. Real-World Experience in Every School
I will lobby the university to integrate meaningful, hands-on experience within programmes, not just talks, but structured opportunities where students complete genuine job-related tasks, receive feedback, and identify strengths and gaps before graduation.
2. Employer-Led Skills Development
The Students’ Association will collaborate with the university to enhance employability trainings through employer insight, strengthening students’ readiness for the workplace.
3. Practised Professional Skills
I will collaborate with the university to enhance existing employability support through live, scenario-based sessions where students practise real workplace situations in front of staff or employers and receive structured feedback, ensuring they refine professional skills before graduating.
Most importantly, I will hold the university accountable for ensuring employability is not left to chance.
