Being active with a sports clubs is a great way to make new friends, have some fun and feel good. There are around 30 different clubs, all organised by GCU student volunteer committees and most hold weekly activities and participate in competitions throughout the year. Get Involved

You can try any sports club activity once for free but after that you must pay the membership fee (Step 1) and joining fee for each club (Step 2) as outlined below:

Step 1: Sports Club Membership

Purchase your ‘Sports Club Membership’ with GCU Students’ Association. This membership costs £20 and is a prerequisite to joining any Sports Club.

The membership provides you with Essential Personal Accident Insurance and the funds from this membership are also used to support sports club activities by subsidising the cost of facilities, transport, equipment, coaching and competition entry fees.

Step 2: Club Joining Fee

Select the sports club(s) you want to join on their individual webpage and then pay the ‘Club Joining Fee’ for each club you want to join.  NB Club Joining Fees are set by each individual sports club and can vary in price from £10 to £45. Remember, you can join as many clubs as like.

Types of Club Joining Fees

• Student (2 Trimester)
• Staff and Life Member (including Alumni)
• One Trimester Post Graduate or Study Abroad Student

Becoming a Volunteer Committee Member

You can also volunteer to be on a Sports Club Committee and could be responsible for co-ordinating activities, leading the team on the pitch or organising social events.
