This year we took part in the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, from November 25 to December 10, this is a campaign that unites individuals, communities and organisations globally to raise awareness, challenge norms and demand accountability. Read on to find out more about what we did and what we have planned for next year!
We know that discussions about Gender Based Violence can be triggering. The 16 Days of Activism planning team has endeavoured to balance the tensions between the events being impactful in order to affect change while also being mindful of the triggering nature of the subject. Womens Network Officer Chloe and Students' Association Vice President for GSBS Tom Tom organised students and members of the womens network to join together with Strathclyde and Glasgow uni students to march through Glasgow supporting survivors of sexual assult and to campaign to make the streets safer for women. Everyone made banners and signs before and there was a great turn out despite the rain.
In order to continue our objective to end violence against women past the 16 Days of Action your Students' Association are hosting two 5 and 6 week long courses to support women. Places will be free and are being provided by Wise Women in Trimester B:
This 6-week course for women aims to help address issues around self-esteem in a supportiv,e non-judgemental environment through guided sessions with a trained facilitator from Wise Women.
This course will help you learn techniques to boost confidence within yourself, how to manage difficult situations and over all feel more comfortable expressing yourself.

The second course is personal safety taught over 5 weeks. This will be a more physical course where a trained Wise women facilitator will help you-
