Our Commitments

To show our commitment to our work on Ethical and Environmental issues, GCU Students’ Association has created a Sustainability Policy which is updated every 3 years (current policy was approved in 2021/22). This details all our commitments to being a more sustainable organisation. Some of these commitments include:

  • Measuring the carbon footprint of all business travel and encouraging more sustainable travelling to staff, students and visitors
  • A ban on the use of domestic flights for business travel
  • Purchasing 100% recycled paper and stationery made from recycled materials
  • Only purchasing tea, coffee and sugar which is Fairtrade certified for all Students’ Association meetings

We also have extensive recycling opportunities within the Students’ Association Building and free drinking water points for all to use.

Where can I recycle in the Students’ Association?

Where is this free drinking water?

Level 0 – Next to the Ladies Toilets

Level 2 – Next to the Staff Room

There is also free drinking water located across different buildings on campus.

All students at Glasgow Caledonian University are automatically members of GCU Students' Association.
This membership is free for current GCU students.
