Submitting is the first stage.
Your nomination will be confirmed after an eligibility check and completion of the relevant mandatory candidate training.
Start with the eligibility checklist on our Can I stand? page.
Check the role dates and working arrangements too, particularly if you would need a break from your studies.
If you are unsure how the requirements apply to you, email elections@GCUstudents.co.uk. You can ask for advice before deciding to stand.
Your manifesto tells students who you are, what you want to improve and why they should vote for you. It must be no more than 300 words.
A useful starting point is:
Use clear language and focus on a few realistic priorities. Write and save a copy before completing the nomination form.
Choose a clear headshot where your face is easy to recognise. Your photo will appear alongside your manifesto on the voting platform, where images can look small, particularly on a phone.
Avoid a distant shot or a group photo where voters might struggle to identify you.
When nominations open on Monday 25th January 2027 at 10am, visit the nomination page.
Log in using your student email address and password, then complete the nomination form with your manifesto and photo.
Before submitting, check that:
Submit before midnight at the end of Thursday 11th February 2027. Give yourself time to contact us if you experience any problems.
You will receive an email confirming that your nomination has been submitted.
You can edit your nomination before the deadline. Keep a copy of your manifesto and confirmation email.
Submission does not mean your nomination has been fully confirmed. You must also pass the eligibility check and complete the relevant mandatory candidate training.
If you do not receive a confirmation email, check your junk folder and contact elections@GCUstudents.co.uk.
