My Manifesto

My name is FRIDAY OSHIOTSE (Ambassador Friyo). I AM a master’s degree student in public health, and I was honoured with the prestigious Common Good Award in the year 2023 AS A RESULT of my selfless services in human development. I was among the selected few students that ensured seamless registration of new students in September 2023, and I am also a member of the Senior Peer Assisted Learning Support where I have provided academic guidance and impacted positively into the lives of students across GCU. Currently, I have provided useful information on accommodation, job applications, academics etc to hundreds of GCU students. I have a perfect understanding of the challenges, struggles, and pains of students due to my series of interactions with them hence I believe I am the best man for the position of SUG President.

As the President, I will

  • Put measures in place for “proper welcoming” of new students and ensure the dissemination of useful information.
  • Organise an “interactive session” to help new students navigate their way through the academic year.
  • Establish an “academic society” where continuing students will help to provide academic guidance to both undergraduate and postgraduate new students.
  • Dialogue with school management for free daily breakfast for students.
  • Organise “social events” where students will get to know each other better and use the avenue to promote equality, diversity and inclusion thereby fostering unity amongst students
  • Liaise with school management to partner with private companies for job fairs and employability platforms for students.
  • Organise mental health awareness campaigns for students.
  • Ensure that I and the other Full Time Officers are accessible to students. This will make it possible for students to discuss their challenges with the Full Time Officers.

Please note the Individual and Team Objectives have not yet been set for the Full Time Officers.
