VOTE 4 A CAREER-CENTRED GCU | HAMZA SIDDIQI
Over the past year as VP of GCU Students’ Association, I focused on one thing: delivering practical change that improves student life and strengthens pathways into careers.
What I’ve delivered:
- Led the Student-Centred Guiding Principles on AI, now shaping clearer policy and ethical AI training.
- Pushed SSE to release international students’ results earlier to meet visa deadlines.
- Secured an increase in societies’ budgets and strengthened support for academic societies.
- Worked with academic reps to resolve lab issues and advocate for better PGR spaces.
- Collaborated with other FTOs to protect free gym access for all students.
- Pushing for fairer Minor Academic Misconduct processes, so honest mistakes aren’t treated disproportionately (no attempt should be exhausted when it comes to minor academic misconduct)
- Advocating for resit after 1 month of result announcement for PGT students which will help international students to complete their studies within the visa timeline and also give opportunity to apply fit-to-sit under challenging circumstances.
As President, I will:
- Deliver timetabling that’s realistic, earlier, and easier to fix when problems occur.
- Ensure AI policy and training match real industry expectations and student needs.
- Establish a paid academic rep system that values student time and builds employability.
- Build a career-centred GCU through internships, industry partnerships, alumni connections, and curriculum alignment with market demand.
I deliver outcomes, not noise. If you want a GCU where students are heard and careers are built, vote Hamza Siddiqi
