Full Time Officer Manifesto
Hi, I am Connor I am a current member of the Trustee Board, Equality Diversity and Inclusivity Committee, Health and Safety Committee, Treasurer for the E-Sports Society and I am the Head of New Societies. I am going to be running for Full Time Officer for the coming year.
I am currently in my 3rd, going into 4th year of my Software Development Bachelor's Degree and I have been an active member of the Student's Association for the 2 years.
As a Full Time Officer I would hope to push the following key points:
Teaching Quality, Careers and Industry Links
As it stands I believe that STEM and especially Technology in this regard such as Computer Science and Software Development need a better link to the industry allowing for more access to placements and internships as well as having more easy access to talks with industry professionals.
Apprenticeships, skills, and routes into work
I believe we should promote more alternatives to gaining work after obtaining a degree rather than just graduate programs and graduate roles, fostering more care for students who cannot easily find those positions comfortably, allowing for better access.
Sustainability projects with external links
I propose that we push for more entry into national and potentially international competitions, especially ones that are accredited or backed, with key themes such as green and promoting eco-friendly ideas.
Accessibility, inclusion, and support needs
I wish to push to aiding people with physical disabilities or people of different backgrounds to nurture growth within the industry and also I think it is important we push for more access and make it easier for mature students to feel welcome as I think a lot of them may feel out of place.
