Caleb Chezhian- Student President Manifesto

My name is Caleb Chezhian, and I am running for Student President to ensure every student feels heard, supported, and empowered. I understand the academic, financial, and personal challenges students face, and I aim to be a leader who listens and delivers real, practical change.

My Priorities

Acadamic & Career Growth

• Improved academic support, skill-building workshops
• Work towards partnerships to get Field-based placements and internships so students graduate with real-world experience.
• I will advocate to increase the number of resit opportunities for international students from 2 to 3, giving them a fairer chance to succeed academically.

Financial & Practical support

• Advocate to make the accommodation in the Glasgow and London campuses more Affordable
• Push to make the  laundry in Caledonian Court free
• Lobby for Student transport concessions to ease the commuting costs

Inter-University Collaboration

• I aim to promote healthy inter-university competitions across Glasgow and the UK to encourage student engagement, teamwork
• plan to organise an annual inter-university festival that brings students from different universities together for healthy competitions, cultural entertainment, networking, and collaborative opportunities.

Wellbeing &Mental Health

Better awareness and access to counselling services, peer-support initiatives, and clearer guidance on available help.

Inclusion & Diversity:

• Stronger support for international students
• Celebration of cultural diversity and equal opportunities for all backgrounds

Campus Community:

• Encouraging student-led clubs, societies and collaborative events to build a stronger sense of belonging across all faculties.
• Set up a team for each sport representing GCU
