We're committed to ensuring our elections are conducted fairly and in accordance with our established procedures. If you believe there has been a breach of our election rules, we encourage you to raise your concerns.
Important Deadline
Election complaints must be submitted no later than one hour after the close of voting. Complaints submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
Before Submitting a Complaint
All elections are governed by our Election Rules and Election Schedule. We recommend reviewing these documents to understand the standards and procedures that apply.
If you're unsure whether a particular action constitutes a rule breach, you're welcome to have a confidential conversation with the Deputy Returning Officer before submitting a complaint.
How to Raise a Concern
You can submit a complaint using the form below, or if you'd prefer to discuss your concerns:
Supporting Evidence
If you have supporting evidence such as photographs, videos, or screenshots that relate to your complaint, please email these to elections@gcustudents.co.uk. Please reference your complaint in the subject line to ensure your evidence is correctly linked to your submission.
How Complaints Are Processed
Complaints will be triaged based on their potential impact on the election. Those with the greatest impact on the election's integrity will be investigated as a priority to ensure timely resolution.
Where rule-breaking is found to have occurred, any penalties applied will be proportionate to the impact on the election's integrity and impact to voters. For further information on this, please see this flow chart.
Please note that some matters raised through election complaints may be referred to other disciplinary processes, including the Students' Association or University Code of Conduct procedures, where appropriate.
Declaration and Data Protection
By signing and submitting this complaint statement, you declare that the content and evidence are, to the best of your knowledge, true and accurate. You also confirm that you understand a copy of your complaint and supporting evidence may be shared with relevant parties as necessary in processing the complaint.
