My manifesto:

Fellow students of GCU,

My name is IMOH OKORONKWO. I am the current student representive, International Economic and Social Justice. A seasoned student-savant with good records of welfare advocacy programs to enhance both academic and mental welbeingof students. During my undergraduate, I was the student representative for four years, and initiated “The Little Help,” program to help students with food items during exam periods. This is still in existence till date.

Coming to GCU in September 2023, and in other to help fellow students achieve success, I came up with “Imohnomics Learning Hub,” where I am training students on Quantitative Data Analytics with Econometrics software, Advanced Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, and Mendeley referencing software, free of charge. We currently have over 50 trainees. More are welcome.

My plans,

  • Accommodation: 10% reduction and rebate: I will create a link between GCU and the Housing Council to ease the process and requirements for private accommodation for GCU students.
  • Recruitments/professional placement: I will work to engage more companies in the career fair for local recruitments and internship opportunities for GCU students.
  • Interdepartmental sport competitions: I will also organise interdepartmental football and other sport competitions for students to showcase their talents and have a more informal relationship with each other.
  • More Microwaves in more strategic places in the school
  • Lobby for more funding for home students
  • Students food bank: Laise with the management and other agencies to esterblish a more effective  food bank in the school for GCU students
  • Enterpreneurship/Made in GCU: I will introduce an enterpreneurial fair where students can showcase their stills and build their network
  • 5% tuition cut: Advocate for tuition fee cut by at least 10% to further ensure little relief and achieve the common good.

Thank you!
