“Catalyst for Change” - Dana King
I am AKINOLA OJELABI, Student Representative for the MSc Financial Technology in the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment (SCEBE) and Glasgow School for Business and Society (GSBS) at GCU 2023/2024.

I have decided to run for Student Union President at our great citadel of learning because I am committed to supporting your interests and developing a dynamic, inclusive campus community in order to create good change and improve the GCU student experience.

My five-point agenda

1. Advocating for Student Welfare:

Expand mental health services and resources to ensure all students have access to support when needed.

Establish a hardship fund to assist students facing financial challenges, and enhance student well-being

2. Promoting Academic Excellence:

Collaborate with faculty to enhance teaching quality and student engagement through innovative pedagogical approaches.

Advocate for increased funding for academic resources, including libraries and laboratories, to support student learning and research.

3. Strengthening Student Voice and Representation:

Establish regular forums for open dialogue between students, faculty, and administration to address issues and propose solutions and to ensure our voices are heard and valued.

4. Fostering Inclusivity and Diversity:

Create platforms for underrepresented student groups to voice their concerns and advocate for their needs.

Organize cultural awareness events and diversity training workshops to celebrate our university's multicultural community.

5. Virtual communities & Social Engagement

Develop an online platform where students can connect virtually, join interest-based groups, and participate in discussions and activities, especially during times when in-person gatherings may be limited.

A Vote for me "Dana King" is a Vote for the Real Change. A Vote for me is the rebirth that we truly seek in Glasgow Caledonian University.  A Vote for me is never a waste, but a catalyst to a dynamic Representation.
