Fundraising Guidance

The Fundraising Regulator has produced a Code of Fundraising Practice that is endorsed by the Scottish Fundraising Standards Panel, which oversees self-regulation of fundraising in Scotland. This guidance includes information, including legal information, on collecting money, lotteries, prize competitions and free draws.

Please follow the guidance and get in touch with a member of staff should the guidance be unclear or you want to do an activity outwith this guidance.

If Societies, Sports Clubs or Groups wish to fundraise they must first fill out a booking form, on the Students' Assocatin Website, where there is an option for fundraising. Once they have filled out the booking form a Risk Assessment is then needed, the risk assessment should include their plan for how they are planning to collect and store the money raised as well as where they plan of holding the fundraiser.

If a fundraiser is taking place on the Main Concourse or in one of GCU Main Campus Buildings then security (securityoffice@gcu.ac.uk) will need to be informed of what is happening and when.

If the fundraising is taking place during an event, for example during a pub quiz or event in the Re:union then the society or sports team must include this in the risk assessment for the event and specify how they plan to collect and store the money. This also applies to if the event or activity is taking place off campus at an external venue.
