Emergency Procedure and Incident Reporting

What to Do in an Emergency

At Glasgow Caledonian University

  • If an incident occurs on campus, immediately contact a member of staff or telephone Ext 2222 and ask for a First Aider to be contacted. They will be trained in and conversant with the relative incident procedure.

At Another University

  • If an incident occurs at another University or sports facility, follow instructions from an official representative of that institution. 
  • Make arrangements for the group to return as appropriate.

At Any Other Time

  • Contact the emergency services if required or undertake first aid where appropriate.
  • Make arrangements for the group to return as appropriate.

NB* Do not make any comment to the media, should they contact you about an incident, refer them to the University.

Incident Reporting

Please contact the Students' Association (0141 331 3886) during normal office hours if someone is taken to hospital or there is a serious incident at your activity or event. Outwith normal office hours let GCU Security know (0141 331 3787) and ask them to let the Chief Executive know.

If you have an incident (including First Aid) at your activity or event you need to complete an Incident Form and return it to the Students' Association.

All students at Glasgow Caledonian University are automatically members of GCU Students' Association.
This membership is free for current GCU students.
