The London Officer is the figurehead of the London Students’ Association, to represent the views of students on their campus at meetings of the London Campus Board and other committees as appropriate. The London Officer also has a responsibility to gather student feedback before meetings and to report back to the Students’ Association throughout the year.

Your London Officer for the 2025-26 academic year is...

Anam Shahzadi

Congraulations to our newly elected London Officer for the 25-26 acadmeic year.... Anam Shahzadi

Well done to Anam, whose hard work and dedication throughout the campaigning period has resulted in an excellent win. Keep an eye out for updates on Anam's work as she works on her manifesto:

I’m standing to be your London Officer to make sure every student at GCU London feels heard, represented and supported. I will deliver clear, accountable representation by attending campus board and council meetings, student voice events and required school meetings, and by producing thorough trimester reports to the Students’ Association.

My approach is simple and practical. First, I will create reliable two-way channels: termly town-halls, weekly office hours and an online suggestion desk so feedback reaches committees before decisions are made. Second, I will strengthen communication with Class Representatives through regular briefings and training sessions so issues are escalated quickly and accurately. Third, I will run focused campaigns to increase engagement in the Students’ Association Annual Student Survey and other feedback tools.

I will represent students externally where necessary and ensure the Students’ Association remains membership focused and inclusive, developing fresh methods to encourage participation across diverse student groups.

My initial targets will be to increase survey response rates by 20% and to resolve at least 70% of raised issues within a trimester where possible.

I understand studies come first; I will manage my commitments responsibly and submit apologies in advance if unable to attend meetings. I will keep transparent records of attendance, communications and outcomes in each trimester report, and work closely with the Student Engagement Co-ordinator to coordinate substitute arrangements when necessary.

We also encourage you to engage with Anam and student voice throughout the year, and you can do this by becoming a Class Rep (speak to your lecturers). This will enable you make change and enhance your experience by working in collaboration with the university.
