How to become a London Officer

Every year one student is elected to lead GCU Students’ Association. Elected by their peers they help voice the opinions of London students to the university, representing 2,000 students.

Can I be a London Officer?

Any registered GCU London student is eligible to stand to be a London Officer. That means if you are currently a registered student studying at GCU then you can do it.

How do I become a London Officer?

1. Deciding to stand

Take a look at the Role Description and find out about campaigning in Officer Elections.

2. Nominating yourself

The easy bit, just follow the self nominate link.  You will need to be logged into our website to nominate yourself. (Live from Monday 6th Oct 2025)

You need to upload a photo of yourself when submitting your manifesto when you submit your nomination.

If you have problems submitting your nomination email ellie.neilson@GCUstudents.co.uk well before the close of nominations on Thursday 16th October 12pm, to give us a chance to resolve any issues.

A manifesto is what you hope to achieve whilst in the role and why people should vote for you. A website manifesto is required. Submit your manifesto by the deadlines below.

3. Getting elected

To be successful you’ll need to convince your fellow students that you’re the best person for the job. That might sound daunting, but there’s plenty of support on offer to you.

Previous officers have overcome all sorts of challenges whilst campaigning—don't let the election myths stop you from standing!

We’ll be putting campaign advice online to help you start planning, and all candidates will be invited to attend a Candidates’ Briefing session as well as optional manifesto writing and online campaign training.

You will also get £10 from us to fund your campaign.
