This year the Students’ Association, our Black and Minority Ethnic Students Group and Glasgow Caledonian University worked in partnership to organise two great events to celebrate Black History Month.
The first event which highlighted contribution of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community went really well with the three keynote speakers sharing their experiences with students to enlighten them on challenges BME students might face and how to overcome these barriers. The speakers were Sir Geoff Palmer, Sofi Taylor and Dr Rahan Madhok. Both home and international students truly appreciated their knowledge. Sir Geoff gifted the University with a signed copy of his book, which is now in the Library archive for Students.
The second event was equally as successful and helped promote internationalisation and strengthen relationships between students, as all students came together to understand each other’s cultures and was really a valued occasion.
On behalf of the Students’ Association and GCU students, we would like to thank the University, all the keynote speakers and all the performers at the multicultural event for making the Black History Month events a success this year.
Here are a few pictures below to showcase success of the events.
