The Glasgow Caledonian Students’ Association supports staff and campus trade unions in the ongoing dispute concerning 100 proposed redundancies at the University. 

The Association recognises the severe impact a reduction in staffing levels would have on student experience and quality of education, especially in light of GCU already having the poorest student-to-staff ratio in the UK. (The Guardian University Guide 2027) 

The Students’ Association will:

• Declare its support for strike action in a public statement. 
• Direct Full-Time Officers to immediately undertake work to educate students on the reasons for and impact of the proposed redundancies, as well as how students can support strike action. 
• Direct Full-Time Officers to immediately engage with and assist campus trade unions and student solidarity campaigns.
