GCU is one of three universities in Glasgow, and while GCU students can join UofG societies and strathclythe societies, the same cannot be done in reverse. The students association should take the necessary action to allow for students from other universities to join societies at GCU as associate members, this will increase collaboration across universities with better social bonds, and better funding from more potential membership fees being available to societies.
All students at Glasgow Caledonian University are automatically members of GCU Students' Association.
This membership is free for current GCU students.

The lack of associate membership also makes certain activities inaccessible if they are only offered at GCU! Societies at the University could see massive growth and development if students from other universities were allowed a place in our community. If the other universities can do it why can't we?
I fully agree, GCU is the only Uni in Glasgow that doesn't offer an associate membership and if nothing else it allows societies to end up with more funding, if it's normal why isn't it already the case here.
I think this as well raises a bigger idea of wider collaboration and working between all the Student Associations.
Yes Riley, long term wider collaboration would be the goal, this motion should be a solid first step to improving the cross Glasgow university collaboration on GCU students association's part
