On the 3rd November 2023, a press release announced that GCU had entered a contract with CyberArk- a Multi Factor Authorisation (MFA) system used to combat cyber-attack threats. This is due to be rolled out to students in November and became active TODAY (23rd October) for staff.

CyberArk is an Israeli owed company with deep ties to the IDF. Many executives and board members of CyberArk have served in IDF in roles relating to cyber security or information technology. Additionally, the company is openly supportive of the ongoing genocide in Palestine, stating: “A small percentage of our team has been called to military reserve duty. Some employees have bravely volunteered. We’re incredibly proud of all our team members and continue to support them and keep them in our hearts and minds” – Matt Cohen (CEO of CyberArk).

This information was found on the official CyberArk services website and demonstrates their public backing of the IDF and what they stand for in the current climate.

GCU has signed a 3 year long contract with CyberArk to the value of £1,436,210,32. To sign a contract of such high value over such an extended period of time with a company that so openly supports and praises the IDF is a shocking display of the university’s complicity with ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.

WE WANT GCU TO END THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND CONTRACT WITH CYBERARK!!! Additionally, we want an alternative cyber security platform to be provided.

Because for the 'common good' does not include supporting genocide

Should we really bring politics into this?

The student association is a political organisation…

“Should we really bring politics into this?” Preferably not, but when children are being slaughtered en masse using resources funded by our university, maybe we can cross the line and discuss the material impact of its investments Also, we have a building named after Govan Mbeki, the literal Secretary of the anti-apartheid paramilitary organisation uMkhonto weSizwe - there is no divorcing politics from the university without changing its current identity.

The antisemitism is strong in this one. If GCU bow to this madness, they'll not receive another penny in fees from me.

Gcu should not allow this because this is antisemitism.

'Antisemitism' has no place in any society. We must work together for our 'common good'.

To the three comment above referring to anti-Semitism having no place in society etc? So genocide has a place in your society? And the prepatrators And enablers of this should be supported, and their services used? Is this is your view of the "common good?"

This is pure antisemitism and should not be given consideration in GCU

There is really no business or connection between the CyberArk and whatever is happening in Israel, this is anti-Semitism at its worst. This is sheer falsehood and the essence of signing this contract is to enhance cybersecurity within and around the school environment which is for the common good and should be applauded. People should not be allowed to throw around their political and religious sentiments. If you do not support the CyberArk contract, then express your displeasure by withdrawing from the school and go elsewhere where your religious and political idiosyncracies will be massaged and embellished. Please leave GCU alone, and go study elsewhere.

To the person who posted the comment at 20:43 on Friday (I'm not sure I can mention names in the comments), I 100% agree. Go on. Leave the uni. Get your money (barely any) from making social media adverts. Good luck not telling your future self 'I wish I studied and respected other students and my lecturers'. Criticism to CyberArk is antisemitism because you are saying that IDF members run it. Well, at least they are defending their citizens from terrorists and rapists which Hamas is all about. Sure, 40,000 dead is a lot and appalling, but Hamas wanted this, and it was Palestinians who celebrated as they saw the blood of Israeli men and women dripping from their bodies - all screaming. In other words, if Hamas expected Israel not to launch war after a sudden terrorist attack where over a thousand died, I'd be astonished.

I forgot to add that the demonstration today happened hours after Israeli football fans were abused in Amsterdam. Postponing it to Monday would've been sensible. Afterall, we are all human. Let's respect each other when our brothers and sisters get hurt. Politics should not fuel racism.

*Let's respect each other all the time. That's better summed up. Also, to clarify, my view is that Israel is killing too many Palestinians, but the truth is that Hamas knew this would happen.

Anyone who claims that opposing the universities indirect support of CyberArk (a company with deep ties to the IDF and actively supporting the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza) is so called “antisemitism” is acting on nothing but bad faith. Antisemitism is NOT anti-Zionism. Not all Jewish people support the Israeli government and proposing that they do IS antisemitism. While the university is not directly sending funds to the IDF they continue to support a company which has thrown their weight behind the war crimes being committed in Gaza. Is this something that should be tolerated to any extent? What is happening in Palestine and specifically our reaction to it determines what is normal in conflict in the coming years. Anyone who sits back and watches what’s happening in Gaza and attacks those fighting against it rather than those who are complicit should be ashamed of themselves.

NO to antisemitism! I'm appalled the idea of boycotting Israeli companies is coming from GCU, it's like 1930s Germany all over again. Time to recognise the real culprit here, which is Hamas, the blood is on their hands alone.
