Hamish Wood was part of the leadership team that transformed GCU from a college to a University. He was the first chair of court that the university had. Having met him, I know how much he truly cared about th university, and how proud he was of the achievements the orgnaisation had received.

It is understandable that, after his passing, he became forgotten about by new students who didn't get to experience his passion. However, this gap is only being pushed wider by the renaming of his building.

The Hamish Wood building was renamed the Annie Lennox building after the notable, and fabulous, Scottish singer and activist. This was due to her being the first female chancellor of the university. Whilst this is commendable, and I do very much love her work, she is now no longer the chancellor of the university, and as such I feel the naming of the building holds less resemblence to the history of GCU than the original name.

Hamish Wood's picture is still hanging proud in the Hamish Wood Gallery of the library, however I feel he deserves to have his building name reinstated.
