Welcome to the Gaming Society!
We are a hobby society dedicated to playing primarily board games, as well as a video games on our society Nintendo Switch and WiiU. The society not only provides a place to play games but also provides a place to socialize and meet new people. We have a good collection of board games to choose from and encourage members to bring their own games too. It is our aim to make sure everyone can get involved whether you're an experienced gamer or this is your first time playing. As an inclusive society we want everyone to enjoy themselves no matter a person's gender, race, or disability.
Our weekly events for the 2024-2025 year will be mainly held in person! We recommend checking out our Discord server for information about events and society news.

Playing games is what brings us together. We want you and everyone else to have fun. That is our very first goal. We as a community want to facilitate fun in every way possible.
We work hard to be as inclusive as possible. We want to welcome everyone and do our best to understand their unique life experiences. After all, we are here to have fun. And because the society is a social experience, it thrives with rich diversity of players. Do your part to help make the community inclusive. Avoid belittling others, even in jest, and avoid crass humour. While the society isn't necessarily appropriate for all ages, we can still make it a wholesome experience.
When interacting with others, assume the best of them. Don't assume they are out to get you. We can work together to improve the way we interact with one another. Maybe someone said something that offended you, it's possible their phrasing was poor, and they didn't intend the meaning you understood. Seek to clarify, reconcile, and educate others.
And learn to teach. One of the best ways to learn is to teach. The society thrives socially. Don't get caught up in the winning and losing. Relax and help to teach others about the games you love and things you enjoy playing. Do what you can to help others (especially new players) enjoy the experience of the society. That might be not criticizing a particularly poor choice, because they don't understand how the game works yet. Let those who are learning make those connections themselves. Other players are smart, trust that your fellow players will help make great experiences as well.
Understand that inside some of the games, lying and deception is expected by the rules and systems of the game. Outside of the game, honesty is expected.
Finally, if you feel that these rules are being broken, or something has happened that made you feel unsafe, reach out. All of the committee are great people and here to help make this a friendly space for everyone.
Sorry, that was a bit of a read, but we find it really helps. Thanks for your time, and we hope you enjoy your stay!
