Feel Fab Feb 2021 was a month of online activities to encourage students to come together and support each other’s mental and physical well-being. The month of February featured a free inclusive programme of events ran by our sports clubs, societies and groups.
Throughout the month it was so great to see so many of our Students’ Association communities come together to put on activities open for all students to get involved in. We had fitness classes from GCU ARC, Cheerleading did a month long walking challenge, we had weekly classes from Boxing, Fencing, Athletics, Cheerleading and Women’s Basketball, African Caribbean Society hosted a mental wellbeing workshop, CISA hosted a livestream, Extinction Rebellion hosted a coping with climate anxiety workshop and a Netflix party and finally we had two Advice Centre workshops, one on building confidence and one Covid anxiety workshop.
I also shared physical and mental well-being tips on my social media and videos from our student volunteers to show the positive impact volunteering can have on our mental health. Overall we had 9 videos from a range of different student volunteers such as Sports Council, Societies Council, Academic Reps and Liberation/Representation officers.
Again I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved in the month. It was really rewarding to see all of our Students’ Association communities come together to support not only our own, but also others mental and physical wellbeing which was extremely needed during these challenging times!
