On Thursday 22nd of April we held our annual celebration event. The STAR Awards in the Re:Union Bar and Grill. The STAR Awards recognises the hard work and dedication of GCU Students. The event involved a drinks reception followed by a meal and awards presentation. We were delighted to have GCU's Principal and Vice Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies joing us along with Rebecca Meechan (former communication assistant at GCU) to receive honorary life memberships to the Students' Association due to their oustanding contribution.

Sohaib has worked tirelessly this year to improve the student experience at GCU, raise money for charity themselves whilst inspiring others to do the same balancing his volunteering activities with his coursework and personal life. This student truly encompasses the Common Good.

Katie has been developing her skills when it comes to collaborating with others through work within their society, as department rep and as co-lead of the Student Staff Engagement Forum

Kanwal was said to be instrumental in providing student feedback and concerns to teaching staff, was said to be kind, patient and willing to fight for positive change.
Representation Network of the Year:
The winning group has been tenacious in bringing attention to the needs of the students they represent. Ensuring the learning environment is not only open and inclusive to these students but also accessible.
Mental Health & Wellbeing Champion
The winner of this award was commended for offering their peers advice and support in addition to checking in on their class mates and ensuring everyone was looking after themselves. The winner was said to be a strong friend and someone who leads by example as a mental health advocate at GCU
Ethical & Environmental Champion
The winner of this award was commended for their dedication to sustainability at GCU

CISA was commended for a ground breaking year with a huge programme of events inspiring their members to get involved and do more with their university experience.
Best New Society:
This society was commended for allowing a space for likeminded individuals to get together, learn, socialise and make our GCU Community more inclusive.

The Winner was commended for how they stepped up to lead the society this year, demonstrating great leadership skills, motivation and commitment to their society
Student Media Awards:
Radio Caley – Best Behind the Mic:
The winner of this award was said to be extremely dedicated to their show in addition to being a confident and entertaining presenter.
Radio Caley – Best Overall Contribution:
The winner of this award was said to have worked tirelessly to reopen the station, helping ensure Radio Caley is a wonderful place to volunteer
The EDIT – Best Article:
The article was commended for articulating a difficult real life situation so well, making for an interesting read but not easy to write.
The EDIT – Best Overall Contribution:
Sam was said to have completely turned The EDIT around this year, making it more professional, eye catching with a great attention to detail.
