Cisa article

It's time for our final societies spotlight of the week, today we are chatting to Monisa who is the president of CISA (Caledonian Islamic Students' Association)

1.What made you want to get involved?

I wanted to meet new people as I didn’t know anyone when I came to uni so I met all my friends through CISA . Also being part of the bigger picture.

2.What are the benefits of being involved in a society?

Defintely helping others, i have enjoyed being a part of everyone else's journey at uni and meeting lots of diverse people. Learning new skills such as event management and leadership.

3.What does your society do?

We run lots of charity events such as believe and do good, Islam awareness week and charity week. We also work on campaigns with students for humanity. Regularly we run our girls socials and boys socials.

4.If you could have any celebrity join your society, who would it be?

Mufti Menk as he is hilarious and his seminar talks are really engaging and he makes everyone laugh. People can struggle to engage with spiritual talks but everyone loves his talks.

5.What is next for CISA?

We recently changed our name which was a big deal. In the future we would like to run bigger campaigns and events.  We will also be Working with VP SCEBE Susan to get a quiet space in the library which can be used for prayer or meditation, so hopefully we will achieve that. Keep an eye out on our instagram for all our events @CISA.GCU
