Smarthinking: Academic Writing and Mathematic Support

Friday 05-02-2021 - 11:56

We asked the University for Academic Writing and Maths support for Students 24/7

We won a pilot for 1st Year students and students on Level 1 modules

Hi everyone
At the Students’ Association we know how many hours you put in to your coursework and how we all have different ways and hours of working which is why we asked for support 24/7.

Myself and Tabitha worked in partnership with the university on a pilot called SMARTHINKING for GCU students on Level 1 modules to receive extra academic writing, mathematics and statistics support?

Using Smarthinking can really help you to learn more effectively!

Getting feedback on your work is really useful but a wee tip is to try to give yourself a bit of time and don’t leave it to the last night before your assessments are due!

Academic writing is available from the Learning Development Centre in each School, also known as LDC, as well as your Academic Development Tutor and Mathematics support available for students in the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment.

In addition to this, we are piloting for this year only, and only for 1st year students and students on level 1 modules this new service called Smarthinking. Smarthinking will provide academic writing help and maths and statistics support all year round, 24/7.

You can use the Smarthinking service for more generic feedback, by submitting your work for online feedback, participating in a drop in session or booking a live session.  You will have an allowance of 90 minutes for the year that you can spread across all your modules.

To get support for your academic writing and mathematics from your LDC or from Smarthinking go to the institution page on GCU Learn.

So be prepared, get some feedback on your work before you submit it.

Log on to your GCU Learn account and go to the institution page.

Good luck with your studies.
