GCU Racing Society officially launched their new 2026 Formula Student car, which is built from scratch by society members, at their launch event last night.

The launch event celebrates their innovation, collaboration, and pure determination. The car was revealed in the Annie Lennox Building Foyer and brought together students, alumni, staff, industry sponsors and supporters to unveil the results of a year’s hard work and effort.

GCU Racing Society is run by students from across the University, bringing together people from two academic Schools — including Science, Engineering and Business. The society and the project is supported by staff from the School of Science and Engineering, by the Students’ Association plus a fanastic group of sponsors who help to make it happen.

GCU Racing will compete this summer at Formula Student 2026 from the 15th to the 19th July at the prestigious Silverstone Race Track.

Congratulations to all the students and staff involved, and good luck to the team at the competition..!!!

 

The team is made up of 77 members, split into sub-teams focused on areas like Brakes, Powertrain, Chassis, Electrical, Suspension and Non-Technical (media, finance, logistics and more). Whether you're an engineering whiz or a design and strategy enthusiast, there’s a role for everyone.
