Dear Students of GCU,

I finished my term as your Student President today.

 

From an International Student arriving in Scotland by myself in 2017, to the first International Student elected as the Student President at GCU. The journey has been nothing short of incredible for me.

 

Being your leader always has and always will remain to be one of the biggest honours of my life regardless of whatever comes next.

 

In the past two years, this role never felt like a job for me, the work never felt like work, and I simply did not feel like doing anything else. It was the last thing in my mind before bed and the first thing that got me to jump out of my bed in the morning because I absolutely loved it. I have finally stopped my clock today and I can proudly say that I worked 131:30 extra hours this year and I wouldn’t have done it any other way, not for a billion pounds, not for anything else.

 

It has been an amazing year. And we absolutely smashed it and made some really incredible achievements this year. The credit for it goes to none other than each and every student at GCU that makes this University what it is today.

 

I would like to give a special thanks to all the great colleagues that I worked very closely with which includes my team and the staff at GCU Students'​ Association but also our amazing Principal Professor Pamela Gillies, Chair of Court Rob Woodward, Executive Board members, Chief Executive GCUSA David Carse, Board of Governors, University staff and all my colleagues outside of GCU. It was an absolute privilege working with everyone.

 

I did not get a chance to meet all 18,000 of you students but know that I will always be here. Perhaps, no longer as your Student President, but as your friend, your supporter and your ally for whenever you need me.
