Citizen is Verb - Get Involved

In Baratunde Thurston's podcast How to Citizen, he talks about making the word "citizen" a verb - something that you do, something that you practice, that you exercise and it gets stronger. To "citizen", according to Baratunde, means showing up and participating, invest in relationships with ourselves and others, understand our power - the power of voting, of our voice, of our attention - and doing things that benefit the many, not just a few.

At the Students' Association, we are built on democratic principles - students representing other students, students coming together to make a change, students creating a community that they want to see. We provide opportunities for you to citizen whilst being conscious of the variable time resources of students. Here are just some of the ways you can get involved:

Member of Parliament (or as we know it Student Voice)

Officer of a Liberation or Representation Group

National Union of Students (NUS) Conference Delegate

Student Summit Member (coming soon)

Class Representative
