Modern Slavery: Ethics in supply chains Talk

Modern Slavery affects an estimated 35m people worldwide, including here in the UK. It takes many forms and supply chains are vulnerable to exploitation by traffickers, use of forced labour, debt bondage and criminal exploitation. The UK is taking a leading role in tackling this global problem and this event will provide attendees with a fantastic overview of the topic including:
- The big picture on this issue including recent legislation ( Modern Slavery Act 2015);
- How we and supply chain professionals can play part in its eradication;
- An insight into the effects of Modern Slavery on victims here in Scotland.

Speakers:

  • Andrew Wallis (CEO of Unseen) will provide us with an insight on legislation and the Modern Slavery Act 2015;
  • Cath Hill (CIPS) will give us information on what work CIPS are currently doing to help irradiation of modern slavery.
  • Bronagh Andrew (The TARA Project/Glasgow Community and Safety Services) will focus on the Scottish context and the issues we are facing locally.

This event is particularly suitable for business or supply chain students, social activists and professionals interested in ethics in business, and specifically supply chains.

Hear from 3 inspirational speakers and learn more about this important subject. We hope to give you some food for thought and challenge you to think about how you can get involved into a more ethical approach to business.
