Green impact sus very good

As part of our sustainability commitments, GCU Students' Association have taken part in NUS's Green Impact scheme for the past 7 years. This year saw the introduction of new criteria, and new challenges but we are pleased to announce we have been awarded Very Good criteria. This means we continue to exceed the ambitious target we set ourselves in The Bigger Plan 2020 of obtaining the Green Impact Accreditation at Good.

This will be the second year the Association has been awarded the Very Good criteria.

Rachel Simpson, Student President and former policy lead, had this to say on the news:

'I’m absolutely ecstatic to hear that GCU Students’ Association has yet again been recognised nationally for their work on ethical and environmental issues, with the award of the Green Impact Accreditation at Very Good'.

'This exceeds what we strive to do in our strategic plan, and I’m overjoyed that we have been able to engage students in sustainable initiatives and see the growth of various campaigns and projects throughout the year'.

Caitlin Reid, our Ethical and Environmental Officer, is delighted to add this to her list of achievements:

'Following the work the Ethical and Environmental Committee, Rachel and I have put in over the last year for the Green Impact Award, I was delighted to find out that we managed to not only maintain our Green Impact Accreditation – but achieved a ‘Very Good’ grading. I am excited to continue my work as Ethical and Environmental Officer next year, and will strive to become even more successful in our sustainability actions'.
