We will be summiting 2 Munros on this hike, Stob Ghabhar & Stob a'Choire Odhair which are just to the West of Bridge of Orchy. This is a fine hike with its narrow rocky ridges, providing a fine day out for the experienced walker.
Please see the advised kit list.
As per, you will be required to have a minimum of: hiking boots (that cover/protect the ankles) and waterproofs, and preferably clothing that is not made of cotton, and no jeans for safety reasons. A headtorch is also a necessity. If you are unsure please contact the club, as you will not be permitted on the trip without meeting the above requirements.
We will be travelling by van which will be arranged by the club.
Outward Journey: Meet outside the Student Union at 6:50am, we will be departing by 7:00am (please arrive promptly so we can leave promptly).
Return Journey: We anticipate arriving back in Glasgow for the evening.
We will be following this route: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/argyll/stob-ghabhar.shtml
Background info on the mountains: Stob Ghabhar is the finest of the Black Mount summits, its narrow rocky ridges and steep sides standing out amongst the hills of the southern Highlands. Stob a'Choire Odhair is an easier ascent with a magnificent view over Rannoch Moor. Combining both peaks, this route is a fine expedition for experienced hillwalkers.
This equipment is essential for a safe and fun day out in the Highlands!
