Hike - Mystery Mountain

You will be required to have full membership to the club to attend and purchase a ticket for this trip.

 

We will be summiting A mouNtain, maybe 2... who really knows... well I know, but you dont. You Could try this link https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochlomond/ben-lomond.shtml, is it whEre we are going? probably noT, Sam does not want to do Ben Lomond foR the 5th time, unlikelY, is that a 'CLUE?' or maybe it isnt, have you been paying attention, or would you like a riddle... you know how this works, you have to EARN your leftfield clues from me, or am I just giving you false HOPE? You will just have to buy a ticket, and find out... all I can say, is it will be a very nice day out.

 

Distance: anywhere between 1km and 99km

Ascent: anywhere between 1,000m and 3,699m

Time (approx.): 4-10 hours

As per, you will be required to have a minimum of: hiking boots (that cover/protect the ankles) and waterproofs, and preferably clothing that is not made of cotton, and no jeans for safety reasons. A headtorch is also a necessity. If you are unsure please contact the club, as you will not be permitted on the trip without meeting the above requirements.

 

Transport

We will be travelling by car which will be arranged by the club.

 


Outward Journey: Meet outside the Student Union at 6:55am, we will be departing by 7:00am (please arrive promptly so we can leave promptly).

 


Return Journey: We anticipate arriving back in Glasgow after 7pm.

 

 

The Route

Background info on the mountain(s): Tall, steep(ish), above 914m, probably below 1,345m I would expect.

 

Necessary Gear

 

This equipment is essential for a safe and fun day out in the Highlands!

  • Waterproof jacket
  • Waterproof trousers
  • Walking boots
  • Headtorch
  • Gloves
  • Warm hat
  • Walking trousers (we will not take you up the mountain if you wear denim!). These should be made of a synthetic material, softshell-pants are ideal
  • Multiple warm layers - temperatures on the summit will be cold
  • Backpack
  • At least 2l of water, warm drinks in a thermos are always a good idea
  • Packed Lunch
  • Snacks
