“Maximisation of Energy Utilisation Efficiency of Photovoltaic Power generation".
The IEEE GCU Student Branch is excited to invite you to a very special guest lecture. Join us to welcome Dr Mohammed Elgendy, lecturer in University of Newcastle, who will hold a Presentation/Seminar on the contemporary and challenging topic of photovoltaic efficiency.
The global capacity of solar photovoltaic (PV) installations has increased significantly in the last decade to reach 177GW in 2014 (compared to 3.7GW in 2004). The number of PV installations in the UK has also increased significantly since the introduction of a new feed-in tariff in 2010 to go beyond 8GW in 2015. With such capacity of PV power generation, it is crucial to maximise the energy utilisation efficiency of PV arrays.
This lecture will discuss the different methods used to extract the maximum possible power from PV arrays. The main focus will be on simple methods with low implementation cost. The different challenges in the area will be highlighted. Simulation and experimental results will be presented to enrich the discussion.
