The OT Society is happy to announce our Placement Uniform Swap Event, an initiative designed to enhance sustainability and reduce waste, while helping students to save money.
The UK generates 350,000 tonnes of textile waste per year (the 4th largest producer in Europe), with only 15% being recycled and the remaining 85% going to landfill or incinerated (Waste and Resources Action Programme, 2024).
We know how costly buying new uniform can be, which is why we are inviting students to join this initiative - where you can donate, swap or pick up placement uniforms free of charge.
We hope that through extending the use of placement uniforms we can each do our bit to reduce textile waste and minimise our environmental impact, while avoiding the costs of buying new uniforms by swapping for pre-loved items.
If you have clean, wearable uniforms that you no longer need/fit please bring them along to the Refreshers Stall. Additionally, if you are in need of new uniform sizes etc., please come along to the stall as we will have all our donations there, if there is uniform that works for you, it’s all yours!! This is going to be carried out on a first come, first served basis.
