Winter Hike - Beinn Achaladair & Beinn a'Chreachain

You will be required to have full membership to the club to attend and purchase a ticket for this trip. Details for purchase of tickets through this page will be published in due course, so keep a look out on our Instagram page for updates.

As we are expecting winter conditions, initial release of tickets will only be purchasable for those that are trained in winter skills, tickets may be available to those without closer to the time if it is deemed that winter conditions aren't present.

We will be summiting Beinn Achaladair & Beinn a'Chreachain (Sam is very excited, as this may be the day he ticks off his 100th Munro!).

Please see the advised winter kit list. You will not be permitted on the trip without the necessary essential kit and B1/2/3 rated boots (crampon compatible), crampons, ice axe. The club can't borrow boots as we do not have these to borrow. Ice axe, crampons and helmet (if required) will be included in the ticket price should you wish to borrow them from the club, this will be first come first serve. Boots can be rented from Tiso if you do not own them.

Transport

We will be travelling by van which will be arranged by the club.

Outward Journey: Meet outside the Student Union at 6:50am, we will be departing by 7:00am (please arrive promptly so we can leave promptly).

Return Journey: We anticipate arriving back in Glasgow after 7pm.

The Route

We will be following this route: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/argyll/beinn-achaladair.shtml

Background info on the mountains: This pair of Munros forms the northerly half of the Beinn Dòrain range and gives a grand ridgewalk. Beinn a'Chreachain, the highest Munro in the range, has a fine northern corrie, whilst Beinn Achaladair is a very shapely peak with much character. The views - especially looking out over the vast soggy table-land of Rannoch Moor - are magnificent.

Necessary Gear

Please see the advised winter kit list.
