Dundonnell/Ullapool Trip

A trip to Dundonnell near Ullapool

This is going to be another trip full of long hikes and very short nights. The club has 3 nights booked in a hut and we will also explore the possibility of extending the trip with the opportunity of camping in Fisherfield (TBD).

We are staying at The Smiddy, Dundonnell.

Activities

As always, you make your own plans for what you want to do on the trip, however, we will and can support you with tips for route choices and we will of course make our own plans which you will be invited to join!

This part of Wester Ross offers more mountains a bit further North being close to An Teallach, The Fannichs and Beinn Dearg to name a few. We also have a chance to extend the trip by camping and completing the Fisherfield 6 (5 Munro's, 1 Corbett), regarded as one of the most remote parts of mainland UK, this will be discussed at the pre-trip meeting.

Accomodation

The Smiddy is based in Dundonnell at the foot of An Teallach.

Sleeping is on alpine-style sleeping platforms.

Electric lighting/heating/cooking, coal fire, H&C water, WC, kettle, microwave, fridge, and crockery and kitchen utensils are supplied.

Electricity is coin meter operated taking £1 coins.

Although there are no showers in the hut, for a small fee showers are available at the nearby Dundonnell Hotel.

What to bring

This is a Summer trip, meaning "better" weather and the use of more Summer orientated gear, but please remember to bring a warm layer. It is also highly recommended to bring a midge net. Camping gear will be discussed at the pre-trip meeting. If you're unsure on what to bring please contact us.
