Committee Elections & Changes to your committee

Annual Committee Elections

Every Sports Club, Society and Group must hold a meeting in Trimester 2 to elect their new committee members.

Step 1: Network with Members

Talk to your members prior to the meeting to encourage them to become part of the committee. Try to encourage members who are in 1st and 2nd year to get involved, as this will help sustainability.

Step 2: Arrange a Meeting

The meeting can be held at any point up until the end of Week 7 of teaching in Trimester 2. It can be at a regular meeting time and place (e.g. as part of a sports club training session or weekly society meeting) or you can Book A Room in the Students' Association or university building on a date and time to suit you. It could also be online (e.g. you can use your Microsoft 365 Email account to set up a Teams Meeting. There are functions that you can add to create Polls, view this video for help with creating a Poll on MS Teams).

Step 3: Have a Vote

At the meeting, explain the roles on the committee, the amount of commitment required and the rewards of being involved. Hold a vote for each position, either by a show of hands or by using paper ballots.

Step 4: Register the New Committee

Once the election has taken place the outgoing committee must register the incoming committee with the Students' Association. The deadline to register is Friday 15th March 2024 at 5pm (Societies) and Friday 22nd March (Sports Clubs), the registration is made via an online form:
