Description

In partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University, we have created a Student Pantry on Level 0 of the Students’ Association Building on the Glasgow Campus.

The Student Pantry was created to respond to the current Cost of Living Crisis that is affecting our students and is a Team Objective for the Full Time Officers 2023/24.

Once per fortnight, GCU students are eligible to book a date and time slot in advance to attend the Student Pantry to collect up to 10 free food items, such as packets of pasta, rice, porridge and tinned foods. The availability of products will determine what you are given. We have limited supplies and so will not be able to cater for every GCU student. The food collected from the Pantry is not designed to be a week or fortnight’s full food shop but will contain a good range of cupboard staples that will make sure your own groceries and budget can go further.

The Student Pantry will close for academic year 2023-24 on Friday 17th May 2024.  It will not operate during the summer/Trimester C term.

Visiting the Student Pantry

  1. Attendance at the Student Pantry is by prior booking only (i.e. we don't accept drop in's).
  2. Obtaining a booking slot is on a first come, first served basis, for GCU students only.
  3. GCU students can only book a slot every two weeks. Multiple bookings within the two week period will be cancelled.
  4. Visit the Student Pantry at the time specified on your email confirming your slot and bring your ticket number with you.
  5. If a GCU student hasn’t visited during their time slot this will result in the loss of your booking and receiving your food items. You will not be able to use the Student Pantry again for two weeks.
  6. Bring your own bag with you to collect the food items.
  7. Receiving up to 10 items is subject to availability of food supplies.
  8. You have a responsibility to check the label on each food items for any food allergens.
  9. We are unable to substitute food items you cannot use, so please give to a fellow GCU student or neighbour who can use them.
  10. Any abuse of staff will result in access to the Student Pantry being suspended and could result in disciplinary action.

When you have booked a ticket you will see a message in a green box saying your ticket is reserved for 15 minutes. You need to click on the cart at the top of the screen to complete this purchase.
