How did you first get involved or how did you find out about it? I found out about nightline in an information session before joining uni as a direct entry student. I looked up nightline on the gcu website and thought it looked like a perfect opportunity to gain experience and to meet new people as being a new student to the university meant I didn't know many other students. |
Why did you decide to be involved? It appeared a perfect opportunity to gain experience in an area I'm strongly interested in and gives me the chance to help others by giving students a place they can talk in confidence to other trained students. |
What difference has it made to your university experience being a volunteer? Being a nightline volunteer has given me many new skills such as those taught in the training sessions, an opportunity to help students that may require a safe place to talk and it has been a great opportunity to meet new friends in other nightline volunteers. The experience has given me confidence in my own abilities and has helped in many ways with the course I am studying. |
