Society Showcase – LGBT+

Rayray

Name: RayRay
Role: GCU LGBT+ Society President.

What does your society do?

We have weekly meetings where we watch movies, play games and have a chat. We also have the Gender & Sexuality Safe Space booked out during our meetings to help ensure our society is inclusive, welcoming and a safe space for everyone. We also go out for a few drinks and food most weeks after our meetings, to Speakeasy our sponsor. As well as this we fundraise for our charity and take part in any applicable protests and/or marches.

Why did you get involved?

I am a proud member of the LGBT+ Community and wanted to help provide a place in the uni where my fellow community members could always feel safe and welcome.

What is the best part about being in a society?

The friendships you form and being able to help others feel happy in themselves.

If you could do one thing in the world what would it be and why?

Make it that everyone is born and treated equally, no one should be discriminated against based on gender, sex, sexuality, age, religion, nationality, etc...

If you could live with one celebrity who would it be?

At the moment I'd pick Miranda Hart because I bet it'd be a right laugh!
