Paws for Stress

Tuesday 17-01-2017 - 15:25

After a three week long holiday over the Christmas and New Year period, there was nothing better than coming back to meet therapy dogs from Canine Concern Scotland on January 11th 2017. I had been working on behalf of our Nightline Service with the GCU Wellbeing Team to run a collaborative event that would encourage positive wellbeing during one of the most stressful student times of the year – the dreaded exam time. One hundred and eighteen students signed up for the event, and every half an hour a new group of GCU students left the stress of handing in assignments and exam revision behind to meet our canine friends. A mix of pure breeds and mixed breeds, big dogs and small pups, there were plenty of doggies to fall in love with. To make it even better? The event was filmed and broadcasted on STV Glasgow’s ‘Live at Five’ (16 minutes in), with both pups and GCU students getting television air time.

I’m hoping we’ll arrange this event to take place again, because we received positive feedback from everyone. But in the meantime, I hope these cute pictures put a smile on your face as you prepare for returning to class next week.
