It has been a sensational few weeks of Sport for GCU Athletes in both BUCS and SSS competition!

There has been impressive cup wins in both the BUCS Trophy and Scottish Conference Cup!

GCU Golf managed a strong performance against Loughborough University in the BUCS Trophy, and were 4-2 winners progressing to next round of the competition were they will meet Stirling!

Men’s Football were 1-0 winners away to away to Aberdeen University in the Conference Cup meaning they progressed to the Semi-Final  in which they face a formidable Herriot-Watt 1’s away from home! Unfortunately this was a step to far and the impressive cup run was cut short after a defeat to Herriot-Watt, a team who play in several leagues above GCU!

Women’s Basketball finished on top in a thrilling Conference Cup Semi-Final match against local rivals Glasgow University! In a match that looked destined to head to Over Time GCU secured a 1 point lead with less than a minute on the clock and their defence held strong, booking the team a ticket to the Scottish Conference Cup Final during SSS Final’s Day!!

GCU Snowsports also performed well during the regional Dome Qualifiers for BUCS! 3 of the competing athletes (Laura Groves, Alex Michaud and Stuart McCuaig) have booked their ticket to the BUCS Indoor Final in Leeds on the 1^st of March!

Outside of Cup Fixtures there were some strong performances in team’s respective leagues.

GCU Women’s Tennis played well against Edinburgh 4’s resulting in a 6-6 all draw on the day!

Men’s Rugby stood strong in tough conditions to beat Dundee 3’s meaning they can now win the league and secure promotion during their home fixture against QMU on the 1^st of March!

GCU Equestrian B Team rode well and secured a 3^rd place finish in their final home event of the season!

All in all a great couple of weeks for GCU Sport!!
