Over 1,200 GCU students took part in this year’s Annual Satisfaction Survey,  our biggest response yet! From March to April 2025, we heard from a diverse group across all campuses.

The good news? Students generally see the Association as welcoming, inclusive, and positively contributing to their university experience. Satisfaction with personal involvement has hit a five-year high at 77%, and awareness of services is improving.

But challenges remain. There’s a declining sense of representation, and too many students still don’t know about the support available, including the Advice Centre and Nightline. Meanwhile, concerns around cost of living, housing, and mental health are at the forefront of students’ minds, with 67% reporting loneliness at least occasionally.

Key Highlights:

  • Top Student Concerns: Cost of living (55%), housing (16%), mental health (8%)
  • 77% satisfied with their involvement,  highest in 5 years
  • 84% agree the Association is welcoming and inclusive
  • Awareness of Student Voice, Class Reps, and FTOs needs strengthening
  • Loneliness remains a major issue, especially among international and postgrad students
  • Students want: More diverse events, better career support, and affordable food and housing
  • Re:Union: Mixed use and feedback, but new initiatives like quiz nights and karaoke are hits!

There’s a lot to celebrate, and also a clear roadmap for where we go next. Improved communication, targeted support, and inclusive events will be key.
