A GCU Alumni, I completed a Part Time MSc in Energy and Environmental Management at the School of Built Engineering and continued to support GCU Alumni activities. I have since mentored GCU students during their dissertations and arranged a work experience opportunity for a GCU PHD student with my Company Safety & Sustainable Development Team. Joining the Trustee Board was an extension of the Alumni, ‘giving something back’ ethos.
I have previously worked in project management and engineering roles in Petro-Chem and Oil industry in Middle East; energy and engineering industry in UK and Europe and as a infrastructure designer in the rail industry. I’ve also worked in H&S and Environment roles and since completion of the MSc I had been promoted into my current Environment Manager post. The role is within Network Rail, Infrastructure Project division across Scotland and London to North East regions, providing strategic approach to Sustainability and Environment for Projects and influencing national policy and Clients to raise profile of the importance of Sustainable Development.
Extracurricular activities include; I’m a STEM Ambassador working with local schools and organisations, the current Chair of West of Scotland IOSH Environment Group and Chair of Clyde Amphibian and Reptile Group with Accredited Licence for GCN’s.
