Stuart graduated with a BA in Accountancy in 1990. The education he received was vitally important to then enable him to pursue an ICAS training contract which he completed in 1993. GCU provided a brilliant mix of theory and practice with many aspects aligned to ICAS training.
Thereafter his career has included international M&A roles, funding a range of corporate finance transactions and also advising companies and institutions on growth strategies including IPO planning, succession planning and providing financial due diligence to enable informed decisions to be made.
He is currently a Partner with RSM in Glasgow where he supports a small portfolio of clients, heads up the Scottish Food and Drink sector team, supports conversations between RSM in the USA and China and Scottish businesses.
None of this would have been possible without the education received at GCU and he was keen to get involved with GCU Students' Association when the opportunity to become a Trustee became available in 2014.
GCU Students' Association performs a great range of services and “punches well above its weight” in terms of impact for students at GCU. The Senior Team are incredibly committed, professional and interested in developing GCU Students' Association with the Full Time Officers bringing a range of passion, drive and enthusiasm which ensures fresh thinking backed up by a well oiled machine!
The regular board meetings, governance and management of GCU Students' Association would put many companies to shame and he is delighted to share his experiences and knowledge to ensure that students are at the heart of GCU Students' Association now and in the future.
