Why Jodie loves the Big Ball!

Thursday 17-03-2016 - 00:00

This is me pictured at the Big Ball two years ago, straight after I won the Allister Boyd award. A few weird things happened this night – I heard about a climb up Kilimanjaro that students were doing, I was seated with a random guy called Michael, and I won an award in recognition of my charity work.

In this picture, it had never crossed my mind that one year later, I would be one of the students climbing Kilimanjaro, elected as Vice President alongside the random Michael guy, sitting at the top table with the Pro Vice Chancellor.  This was the first Students’ Association event I had ever been to, and needless to say I have been to many more since!

As I said, last year’s Big Ball was very different from in this picture. I had just been elected as Vice President, and went to the Big Ball the same day I had handed in my dissertation. The free wine on the table definitely went down a treat after three days with no sleep.

I’m so excited to see what this year’s Big Ball holds. Who is going to win an award this year? Who is going to enjoy the free table wine most?

Who’s first ever Students’ Association event will be the Big Ball, and where will it lead you?
