We are your four elected Full Time Officers to represent you and are here to make your GCU life better.  This email is to update you on the difference we make.

Student President
Student President has been working on...
  • Secured funding for our Wellbeing Volunteer Programme. First campaign on Homesickness will take place on the 25th and 27th October 2016.
  • Working with Townhead Community Council to recruit GCU students to participate for the first time in a Community Clean-Up Event.
  • Successfully worked with the University to ensure the Allister Boyd (Charity) Ball is back on campus and this year it will be held on the 17th November 2016.
  • Prioritised Assessment and Feedback, Programme Organisation and Student Engagement as key areas for GCU development.
  • Launched new Part Time Students Leaflet.
  • Working with VP GSBS we recruited students to participate in Rape Crisis Scotland training on preventing Gender Based Violence.

Vice President School of Health and Life Sciences has been working on...
  • Manifesto win! Worked with School of Health and Life Sciences to organise Student Volunteering Fayre, with over 20 organisations attending.
  • We have increased your representation! We achieved funding from each academic school to have Postgraduate Taught School Officers.
  • Students rights improved! Working with University and students to launch new GCU Partnership Agreement.
  • Making GCU Careers more accessible through drop in sessions in Students' Association Building.

VP Education
Vice President Glasgow School for Business and Society has been working on...
  • Working on improving transition from college to university. New leaflet created and organising event on 2nd November 2016 for college students who are thinking of applying to GCU to hear from current GCU students about student life at GCU.
  • Pushed for development of GCU Student Carers Policy. To be approved soon.
  • Achieved the NUS Green Impact Excellence award for our environmental Food Waste project, and am now striving towards Gold.
  • Running a campaign called ‘Where’s the Nightline Bear?’, where students have the opportunity to win a Samsung tablet if they take a photo with the bear and upload it to Instagram.
  • We have increased your representation! We achieved funding from each academic school to have Postgraduate Taught School Officers.
  • I have achieved assurance from the University that students will be involved in the review of GCU catering.

VP Wellbeing
Vice President School of Engineering and Built Environment has been working on...
  • We have increased your representation! We achieved funding from each academic school to have Postgraduate Taught School Officers.
  • Manifesto win! I have introduced Postgraduate specific events during Induction Week, with over 50 Postgraduate students attending our afternoon tea.
  • I have instigated student-led programme reviews within the School of Engineering and Built Environment.  The aim is to improve the student learning experience, through working with the school to identify areas for enhancement and good practice within 4 degree programmes.
