At the start of the month, GCU Athletics took part in the Scottish Universities Indoor Athletics Championships and came away with a number of medals across several disciplines. GCU finished in the top half of the medal table as the club picked up 6 medals; 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze, a fantastic achievement considering GCU only had 8 athletes competing at the event.

 

Chloe Lambert impressed as she picked up Gold in the Women's 200m race and set a Scottish Universities Indoor record on the way to victory. Chloe then went on to take a Silver in the Women's 60m sprint. A great performance and great results that will stand her in good stead with the British Universities Championships coming up this weekend. Caroline George impressed in both events going on to pick up 2 bronzes giving GCU 2 out of the 3 podium positions in events. Another great performance for Caroline.

 

Silver medals also came in the Men's 1500m and Women's High Jump with Callum Matthews and Catherine Palmer having great competitions to round off GCU's impressive day. There also came close finishes in several other disciplines and all athletes represented GCU fantastically well!

 

Next stop for the team is the BUCS Indoor Championships in Sheffield this weekend and we wish all our athletes the best of luck!
