GCU Students’ Association is delighted to announce the Sports Award Winners for 2014-15.

 

Sports Person of the Year

 

James Bowness, Athletics

 

GCU PhD Student, James Bowness, has had an outstanding season this year with his middle distance running. Last summer he won the Universities Celtic outdoor 1500m representing Scottish Universities and won the Scottish University 1500m Championships. Representing GCU in February 2015, he won Gold in the 400m Scottish University Indoor Championships and Silver in the British Indoor Championships 800m. On the same day he ran the European Qualifying standard and a PB which booked his spot in the GB team.  In March 2015, James ran for Great Britain in the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Prague.
